What is mental health?

As per WHO Mental health is a state of mental well-being that enables people to cope with the stresses of life, realize their abilities, learn well and work well, and contribute to their community. It has intrinsic and instrumental value and is integral to our well-being.

Statistics reveal that 1 in 5 individuals experiences symptoms of mental health issues. Mental health conditions often begin early, with 50% starting by age 14 and 75% developing by age 24. Globally, around 970 million people struggle with mental illness, and 1 in 4 people will be affected by a mental health issue at some point in their lives. This underscores the widespread impact and early onset of mental health conditions, highlighting the importance of early intervention and support.
